Rossy de Palma's Political Touch at Nouveau Printemps 2026

festival-fair · 2026-06-02

The 2026 edition of Nouveau Printemps de Toulouse, running from May 27 to June 28, features actress Rossy de Palma as 'associated artist'—a role previously held by matali crasset, Alain Guiraudie, and Kiddy Smile. Unlike her predecessors, de Palma refused interviews and did not guide press tours, appearing only occasionally. She curated a selection of Spanish and Hispanic artists from the Abattoirs collection, including Miquel Barceló, Joan Miró, Manolo Millares, Ximena Garrido-Lecca, and Ouka Leele, displayed in the museum's basement. A photographic exhibition by Manuel Outumuro in the Observatoire de Jolimont garden features her portrait alongside Juliette Binoche and Monica Bellucci. The festival emphasizes political themes: Ángel Pantoja's feminist cartography and Dalila Dalléas Bouzar's works on feminicides and Palestinian massacres are shown at Centre Culturel Bonnefoy. Clément Postec curated 'Danses interdites,' a video art exhibition across five venues celebrating emancipatory gestures in Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh, Suriname, and Sudan. Other highlights include Gala Hernández López's exploration of capitalism's impact on dreams and Nicolas Daubanes's permanent installation of an inverted staircase inspired by WWII resistance. All exhibitions are free except at Abattoirs.
