Prada Mode Brings Art and Fashion to Hotel Chelsea

Prada Mode, the Italian fashion house's roving cultural club, took over the historic Hotel Chelsea in New York for a two-day event blending art, music, and fashion. The activation featured a site-specific installation by artist Theaster Gates, who transformed the hotel's lobby and public spaces with his signature blend of found objects and archival materials. Guests included actors, musicians, and fashion insiders such as Chloë Sevigny, Dev Hynes, and Paloma Elsesser. The event also hosted a conversation between Gates and architect David Adjaye, and a performance by musician Moses Sumney. Prada Mode, which launched in 2019, has previously staged events in Miami, Shanghai, and Paris, each time collaborating with a different artist to reimagine a venue. The Hotel Chelsea, a landmark of bohemian New York, provided a fitting backdrop for the convergence of creative disciplines.
