PMA Films August 2025 Screenings Feature Familiar Touch, Georgia O'Keeffe Documentary, and Classic Thrillers

The Portland Museum of Art's PMA Films program, curated by programmer Chris Gray, has announced its upcoming screenings for August 13–24, 2025. The schedule includes several notable films. 'Familiar Touch,' directed by Sarah Friedland and starring Kathleen Chalfant, is a portrait of a woman transitioning to a care facility, made in collaboration with residents and workers of a Pasadena memory care facility. A free screening with a discussion is scheduled for August 21, presented with the Alzheimer’s Association and MaineHealth. A documentary about artist Georgia O'Keeffe, titled 'Georgia O’Keeffe: The Brightness of Light' and directed by Paul Wagner, will screen multiple times from August 22–24 and beyond. The film features narration by Claire Danes. The thriller 'Cloud,' directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa, known for films like 'Cure' and 'Pulse,' will be shown from August 23–31, with some screenings as double features with 'Pulse' (2001). The program also includes a screening of Sidney Lumet's 1975 film 'Dog Day Afternoon,' starring Al Pacino, on August 22 as part of a 'Summer of ‘75' series. Additionally, 'CatVideoFest 2025,' an annual compilation of internet cat videos presented with the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, will have screenings on August 13 and 14. The Animal Refuge League receives a portion of ticket sales and will have volunteers at select screenings. All films are shown at the Portland Museum of Art in Portland, Maine, with tickets available through the museum's website.
