PMA Films Announces September Screenings Including Classics and New Documentaries

The Portland Museum of Art's PMA Films program, curated by programmer Chris Gray, has scheduled a series of screenings from September 10 to 21, 2024. The lineup features several notable films, including Stanley Kubrick's 1975 period drama 'Barry Lyndon' and Steven Spielberg's 1975 thriller 'Jaws,' both presented as part of the 'Summer of '75' series. A free outdoor showing of 'Jaws' will occur on September 11 in Congress Square Park, organized with SPACE Gallery and Friends of Congress Square Park. New documentaries include 'Architecton' by Viktor Kossakovsky, exploring architecture and permanence; 'The Last Class' by Elliot Kirschner, about educator Robert Reich's final teaching year; and 'Souleymane's Story' by Boris Lojkine, a thriller following a Guinean migrant in France. Additional screenings include '76 Days Adrift,' a survival documentary produced by Ang Lee; an 'Animation Mixtape' curated by Don Hertzfeldt; and past series films like 'Dune' (1984) and 'Georgia O'Keeffe: The Brightness of Light.'
