PMA Films Announces August and September Screenings Including Kurosawa Double Feature and Documentaries

PMA Films, the film program of the Portland Museum of Art, has announced its upcoming screenings from August 27 to September 11. The schedule includes a variety of films, highlighted by a double feature of Kiyoshi Kurosawa's new film 'Cloud' paired with his 2001 horror film 'Pulse' on August 27 and 31, with discounted tickets available for the pairing. Other featured documentaries include 'Georgia O'Keeffe: The Brightness of Light,' a comprehensive portrait of the artist; 'The Last Class,' about former U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert Reich's final year of teaching; and 'Architecton,' a visual exploration of concrete and stone by Viktor Kossakovsky. The program also includes outdoor screenings as part of the 'Sandblaster!' series, featuring David Lynch's 1984 'Dune' at the Desert of Maine in Freeport on September 2 and a free screening of 'Jaws' in Congress Square Park on September 11. Additional screenings cover a wide range of genres and periods, from classic restorations to contemporary international cinema. PMA Films programmer Chris Gray provided details on the selections.
