PichiAvo's Ephemeral Temple Installation Burns at Valencia's Fallas Festival 2026

On March 19, 2026, during the La Cremà ceremony of the Fallas de Valencia festival, the artistic duo PichiAvo saw their installation 'Per ofrenar' intentionally set ablaze. The work, commissioned by the Borrull-Socors neighborhood and presented in the Experimental Fallas category, was an Ionic temple-inspired structure located at Borrull Street 31 in central Valencia. Constructed from traditional materials like wood and paper in collaboration with artisan Paco Ribes, the piece featured a central altar with balanced candles symbolizing Classical Art and Graffiti. The installation, which won First Prize in Sustainable Fallas and Third Prize in Experimental Fallas, was designed for public interaction before its ritual destruction, continuing PichiAvo's exploration of dialogue between historical and contemporary art forms within the festival's centuries-old tradition of ephemeral monuments.
