Panafrican Biennale Open Call for Short Films

The Panafrican Biennale (PAB) has issued an open call for short films, inviting filmmakers, artists, designers, and spatial practitioners to submit moving-image works that critically and creatively engage with contemporary African conditions. The call seeks experimental, documentary, narrative, and hybrid formats that challenge dominant representations and offer nuanced, situated perspectives on changing landscapes, embodied knowledge systems, and speculative futures across the continent and its diasporas. PAB is a continental platform dedicated to documenting, preserving, and projecting Africa's built environment, urbanism, and creative futures across its 54 nations and diaspora. It represents the founding of a long-term continental institution created to ensure that African architects, urbanists, artists, and communities are the authors of their own spatial and cultural narratives. The open call was published on July 24, 2026.
