Orestiadi 2025 Festival in Gibellina Bridges to 2026 Capital of Contemporary Art

The 44th Orestiadi Festival is set to take place in Gibellina, Sicily, from June 27 to August 3, 2025, with Alfio Scuderi as the artistic director. This event precedes Gibellina's recognition as Italy's inaugural Capital of Contemporary Art in 2026. Highlights include a two-day Anteprima on June 27-28, celebrating artist Emilio Isgrò, along with performances featuring urban artworks by Franco Purini and others. The lineup includes Macbeth vs Macbteh on July 4, a tribute to Pino Daniele on July 5, and Il canto della sirena on July 6. The festival also commemorates Andrea Camilleri's centenary with Gran circo Taddei on July 25 and a reading by Luca Zingaretti on July 31. It will conclude with a new Orestea on August 1 and a tribute to Fabrizio De André on August 3. The event is organized by Fondazione Orestiadi, under the leadership of President Francesca Corrao.
