Operator Duo Debuts Blockchain Choreography at Venice Biennale Danza

On July 23, 2026, Palazzo Diedo in Venice will host 'Human Unreadable: Body not included', a new performance by the US artist duo Operator (Ania Catherine and Dejha Ti). The work is part of the collective exhibition 'Strange Rules' and the 20th Venice Biennale Danza. It centers on 'Human Unreadable', a choreographic infrastructure built on the Ethereum blockchain that generates movement instructions that cannot be executed autonomously but require human dancers. For the Venice iteration, dancers Giulia Padovan and Valentina Peruch will interpret live projections, accompanied by music by Amon Tobin and costumes by Don Aretino. The 20-minute performance will repeat hourly for six sessions, from 12:00-14:00 and 16:00-18:00. It takes place within Mat Dryhurst and Holly Herndon's site-specific installation 'Attention Guild', in collaboration with SUB. The event is free and also grants access to the exhibitions 'Strange Rules', 'Ceal Floyer. Unfinished', and 'Penumbra'. The performance explores Protocol Art, examining the relationship between creativity, AI, and computational systems, highlighting the paradox of a system prescribing instructions for improvisation.
