NYC Arts Groups Celebrate Juneteenth with Citywide Events

Arts organizations in New York City are celebrating the sixth anniversary of the Juneteenth federal holiday with various events throughout the boroughs, aligning with the nation's 250th anniversary. On June 18, from 6–9pm, the Bronx Museum will host a Juneteenth celebration, co-organized by PR2Politics, featuring drumming, DJ performances, and late access to 'The Seventh AIM Biennial: Forms of Connection.' The Flea Theater's free performance series will take place from June 18–24, beginning with Asia Stewart's 'after air' at South Street Seaport, honoring enslaved individuals trafficked through New York in the early 1800s. Additionally, on June 19, the Studio Museum in Harlem will hold its first Juneteenth Community Day since reopening, from 11am–8pm.
