Nuno Viegas and Ståle Gerhardsen Unveil "Play Attention" Mural at Festival Infinito 2026 in Cascais

Key facts

• "Play Attention" is a collaborative mural by Nuno Viegas and Norwegian artist Ståle Gerhardsen.
• It was created for the eighth Festival Infinito in Cascais, Portugal.
• The mural was painted in spray paint on a wall approximately 17.5 by 7.4 metres.
• The composition combines Viegas's anonymous adult figure with Gerhardsen's playful characters, with small figures climbing, hanging from and moving around the central body.
• The artists describe the work as exploring adult responsibility against the freedom commonly attached to childhood.
• Surrounding figures stand for a state of mind — spontaneity, imagination and a willingness to embrace the absurd — rather than depicting children directly.
• The mural was painted during Festival Infinito's 2026 return to Bairro da Torre, where eight artists worked in four pairs across four walls between September 7 and 14.
• The festival is organised by the youth association Somos Torre with support from the Municipality of Cascais.
• According to Viegas, the collaboration was the artists' second together this year.
