Nordisk Panorama's Explicit Film Screening Tests the Boundaries of Cinema
On October 5, 2023, Nordisk Panorama, in collaboration with Fennek Film, organized "P*rn Fest Preview: An Explicit Film Screening" at the Hypnos Theatre in Malmö. The event showcased seven short films from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, and Denmark, aiming to investigate the intersection of sexual arousal and artistic expression, particularly in light of Sweden's 1971 pornography decriminalization. This screening marked a significant return to public cinema for content that has largely been relegated to private viewings. While some entries, like Lasse Långström's "Solidarity With the Garbage Workers on Strike," successfully merged humor with political themes, others, such as "NiXXXavuori," fell short in substance. P*rn Fest faces the challenge of presenting explicit content in a more innovative cinematic framework.
