In 2015, Nikon developed Heartography, a camera harness with a built-in heart-rate monitor for dogs. The project featured a Border Collie named Grizzler wearing a custom neck-mounted case housing a Nikon camera. A heart-rate monitor tracked Grizzler's pulse and wirelessly triggered the camera when his heart rate rose due to excitement. Creative director Jared Kang collaborated with Nikon on the concept. Initially, Kang attempted to use a cat, but the cat's higher heart rate and difficulty wearing the monitor led to switching to a dog.
