Nia Archives and Rendezvous Projects to Host Jungle Takeover at V&A East

On 16 May, Nia Archives and Rendezvous Projects will co-curate back2back: Up Ya Archives x Rendezvous Projects at the new V&A East in Stratford, London. The free one-day event features sets, workshops, screenings, and panel discussions focused on jungle music's history, geography, and future. It coincides with the V&A's exhibition 'The Music is Black: A British Story'. Nia Archives, known for her 2020 debut and Up Ya Archives platform, champions jungle's legacy and new talent. Rendezvous Projects, an artist-led CIC, produces underrepresented social histories; their recent project 'Sound Waves: Music in Newham' explored 60 years of local music history. The takeover includes cassette cover and zine-making workshops, and Felt Sound System's 'Each One Teach One' project. Both Nia Archives and Rendezvous Projects co-director Katherine Green emphasize community, intergenerational exchange, and women's visibility in music. The event aims to inspire archival practice and community pride, with hopes to expand to other UK regions.
