New York's Easter Bonnet Festival Showcases Creative Hats and Costumes on April 5

On Sunday, April 5, the Easter Parade and Bonnet Festival took place outside St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York, featuring creative headgear. Among the participants were visual artist Cristian Pietrapiana, sporting a hat made of plastic trash, prop stylist Julie Dumas with her floral taxi-cab hat, and Shayna Strype, who donned a hot-air balloon costume. Eduardo Escobar, celebrating his tenth year at the event, showcased a lunar-themed hat inspired by Georges Méliès's 1902 film "A Trip to the Moon." Kicking off at 10 am, the festival drew both locals and visitors, including Camille Carrithers and Sheila Morris Jordan from Brady, Texas, along with Gail Trunick from Burghill, Ohio. This celebration, dubbed "the people's Met Gala," has transformed from a fashion show in the 1870s into a vibrant showcase for artists and crafters.
