Navigating Milan's Tortona District During 2026 FuoriSalone Design Week

festival-fair · 2026-03-24

The Tortona district in Milan will host the FuoriSalone from April 20 to 26, 2026, as part of Milan Design Week. This area, which originated the event in the early 2000s, features a complex ecosystem with four main entities: Superstudio Più, Tortona Rocks, Base Milano, and Tortona Design Week. The program spans multiple disciplines including design, technology, art, fashion, music, and this year adds dance and poetry. Superstudio Più at Via Tortona 27 presents SuperNova, featuring large installations by international brands like Lexus, Samsung Electronics, and Schüller Möbelwerk/next125, plus a major exhibition celebrating Moooi's 25th anniversary designed by Marcel Wanders. Base Milano occupies former Ansaldo factory spaces, focusing on research and collective design with Exhibit, a 4,000-square-meter show featuring over 80 designers, and Idiorythmia – RE-U construction system by French studio Smarin. It also hosts a five-day music festival from April 21-25 with acts like Batu and Quantic, and debuts a temporary food court. Tortona Rocks, in its eleventh edition with the theme 'Design to Change Everything', presents eclectic programming at locations including Opificio 31, featuring collaborations like Iqos with Devialet Soundsorial Design and McDonald's 40th anniversary exhibition with works by artists including Damien Hirst. Tortona Design Week explores 'Thinking Better, Look back to Shape the Future' with installations such as Corpografia – Paesaggio di Donna by Sara Ricciardi Studio and RŌS by atelier oï for Geberit. The district encourages visitor engagement through dialogue with designers.
