Mx. Sly to Present Erotic Storytelling at Footscray West Writers Festival

Mx. Sly, author of TRANSLAND: Consent, Kink & Pleasure, will participate in First Floor Fantasy, an erotic storytelling event at the Footscray West Writers Fest on March 28th. The festival, now in its second year, features intergenerational voices including 95-year-old storyteller Liz Hicklin and other writers like Samantha Byres, Aud Pitch, Ty A, and host Emily Westmoreland. Mx. Sly discusses the importance of protecting trans and queer literature in erotic spaces, noting that their writing career began with smut and sex work in 2010s Toronto. The event aims to explore themes of gender, sensuality, and community through literary smut, which Mx. Sly views as a tool for empathy and authenticity in divisive times.
