Museum of Life and Science Hosts Fifth Annual Black Excellence in Science Event

The Museum of Life and Science in Durham held its fifth annual Black Excellence in Science event during Black History Month. The program featured local Black scientists and STEM professionals, including Kendra Settles, Dr. Christine Daniels, Dr. Alex Marshall, Leon Bradford, Dr. Siobahn Day Grady, and Dr. Antonio Baines. Community partners Duke's BOOST Program, Purpose Learning Lab, and Durham Colored Library collaborated on the initiative, which included hands-on activities, experiments, demonstrations, and a Q&A session. The event coincided with Durham Community Day and saw significantly increased attendance. A related poster exhibition, Hall of Black Excellence, remains on view in the Terrace Gallery, highlighting Black STEM professionals in the region.
