Museum of Life and Science Hosts Day of the Dead Event with Monarch Butterfly Migration Focus

The Museum of Life and Science organized a Dia de los Muertos celebration on November 1 that connected the Latin American holiday with the annual monarch butterfly migration to Central America. The event featured cultural and educational activities including papel picado decoration, Mayan codex and pendant creation, and native wildflower seed ball making. Archaeologist Dr. Gabrielle Vail collaborated with the museum to teach participants about Mayan timekeeping, astronomy, and hieroglyphics. Visitors also enjoyed chocolate history lessons in the Magic Wings Butterfly House. The museum provided online resources for those who missed the event.
