Musée Guimet's "K-arrément Corée" Season Brings South Korean Music, Theater, and Storytelling to Paris
The Musée national des arts asiatiques – Guimet in Paris is hosting a South Korean cultural season titled "K-arrément Corée" through the end of November. On October 15, the group Chudahye Chagis, led by singer Chu Dahye, performs shamanic muga chants blended with funk, rock, and reggae grooves, drawing from their latest album, which won Album of the Year at the 2026 Korean Music Awards. On November 6, the duo Dal:um on citharas and Dasom Baek on flutes present a minimalist, electro-inflected reinterpretation of Korean tradition. The Théâtre national de Corée makes its Paris debut on November 13 and 14 with staged readings of Sammaekyung – Enfin, je crois avoir vécu, a 1939 classic about an old actor who crosses into a timeless realm after death; the production is surtitled in French. On November 19, Park Jiha performs solo on the piri (bamboo oboe), saenghwang (mouth organ), and yanggeum (struck zither), merging traditional sounds with contemporary textures. For children aged 7 and up, a Korean tale is told on November 29 at 4 p.m., featuring a dancer searching for a tiger's whisker to help her war-scarred husband. The season takes place in the museum's auditorium, and visitors are encouraged to extend their experience with the permanent collections. Reservations and further information are available on the museum's website.
