Michael Strevens Conceals Tiny Human Silhouettes Within Mobile-Made Geometric Abstractions

Working exclusively from mobile devices and mobile photo-editing applications, London-based digital artist Michael Strevens builds hypnotic geometric abstractions that embed a single minute human silhouette inside each composition, transforming flat optical patterns into labyrinthine architectural spaces. His source material consists of architectural photographs and urban geometry captured across Europe, which he then manipulates to isolate lines, repeat forms, distort vanishing points, and introduce glitch aesthetics. The resulting aesthetic moves between stark monochromatic contrast and vivid neon gradients in electric pinks, cyans, and deep violets. Strevens describes his practice as embracing the spirit of glitch art, digitally destroying or corrupting image data and turning it into something new, before rebuilding geometric order from the fragments. The recurring solitary figure serves as his signature, converting what would otherwise read as pure abstraction into an immense, labyrinthine architecture that probes human presence within the digital landscape. His work is documented on Instagram under the handle mike_n5.
