miart 2025: Gallerists Report Solid Sales Despite Global Economic Uncertainty

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

The 29th miart, an international fair for modern and contemporary art in Milan, wrapped up on April 6, 2025, following a preview on April 3. Under the direction of Nicola Ricciardi and organized by Fiera Milano, the event featured 179 galleries from 31 nations, presenting over 1,200 artworks. Despite Donald Trump’s implementation of stringent trade tariffs on April 2, 2025, the fair experienced a robust turnout and encouraging sales, especially in modern art. Galleries benefited from eight awards, including €100,000 distributed among 11 artists. Significant sales included pieces by Marinella Senatore, Maggi Hambling, and Alessandro Pessoli. Gallerists expressed contentment in light of economic difficulties. The next miart is set for April 17–19, 2026.
