MetaMask Launches Money Account Combining Stablecoin Yield and Card Spending
On June 30, MetaMask, a product of Consensys, introduced Money Account, which combines stablecoin savings, DeFi yield, trading, and spending capabilities. This service operates on the Monad blockchain and includes MetaMask USD (mUSD), a stablecoin that is pegged 1:1 to U.S. dollars and Treasury bills managed by Bridge. Users can achieve a variable APY of up to 4% through DeFi lending platforms such as Morpho, with plans for Aave integration. The MetaMask Card facilitates direct spending from the account while continuing to generate yield until the transaction is completed. Money Account also supports token swaps and processes 10,000 transactions per second. KYC checks are mandatory for access via MetaMask Mobile in selected regions (excluding the UK). Joe Lubin highlighted the emphasis on user control and integration.
