Maison Margiela Opens 'Folders' Archive Chapter on Its First Tokyo Store, 2-8-13 Ebisu Minami

digital · 2026-10-21

On 21 October 2026, Maison Margiela introduced a fresh phase of 'MaisonMargiela/folders', highlighting its inaugural store, Maison Margiela Tokyo, established in 2000. Founded by Martin Margiela in 1988, this store is situated in Ebisu, Tokyo, rather than in Belgium or Paris. In 2007, it relocated to a repurposed electrical goods factory at 2-8-13 Ebisu Minami, with interiors painted white to represent fragility and purity. To commemorate the store's 20th anniversary, new Dropbox folders and a limited-edition zine will be released on 5 November 2026, showcasing memories from staff and collectors of the 'Tabi' shoe. An exhibition will be on display until 15 November 2026, with creative director Glenn Martens highlighting the archive's innovative nature.
