Maïa Barouh launches Yōkai Matsuri festival and new album

Maïa Barouh, a talented singer, flutist, and producer with French and Japanese roots, is venturing into new creative territories. She's set to release a fresh album and host the Yōkai Matsuri festival on May 31, June 2, and July 28, which highlights the fascinating creatures of Japanese folklore. In addition, she's developing a unique show about Yasuke, the first Black samurai, featuring a mix of musicians and a juggler, along with a partnership with a Japanese street brass band. Barouh's music blends traditional Japanese tunes with rap, electro, pop, and world influences, inspired by artists like Brigitte Fontaine and John Coltrane. She views art as a vital means of breaking down barriers and spreading joy in the face of adversity.
