Lucy Raven's 'Murderers Bar' to Screen Amid Rocky Mountains for Aspen AIR Festival
Lucy Raven's film 'Murderers Bar,' set for release in 2025, will be showcased outdoors at a high altitude in the Rocky Mountains during the Aspen Art Museum's 2026 AIR festival. This film marks the conclusion of Raven's 'The Drumfire' series, detailing the largest dam removal in U.S. history near the California-Oregon border. Accompanying the film will be a newly commissioned live score by composer Deantoni Parks, featuring strings, percussion, and wind instruments. Scheduled for July 28 on a ranch in Aspen, the outdoor screen will be twice the size of its indoor counterpart, framed by Aspen trees with views of Pyramid Peak. Raven and Parks, who connected through mutual acquaintance Jason Moran at the Park Avenue Armory, described the score as the most orchestral of the series, utilizing a graphic score with time codes for a small ensemble. This performance is produced in partnership with the Aspen Music Festival and School.
