Los Angeles Festival Creates Safe Space for Trans Comedians to Heal Through Humor

The Joy Who Lived Festival in Los Angeles provides a dedicated platform for transgender comedians and performers to showcase their work in a supportive environment. Ortiz presents 'Libros,' a game show about relationship endings, while Nguyen debuts her play 'Sleepover' after participating in a playwright program. The festival emphasizes accessibility with sliding scale pricing, ASL interpretation, live streams, and a gender-affirming care fair. Organizers aim to foster community and visibility, coinciding with Trans Day of Visibility to counter recent reductions in trans representation in media and restrictive policies.
