London's House Against Hate Protest Rave Draws Massive Crowd Against Far-Right Rhetoric

On March 28, an estimated half-million people participated in the Together Alliance march through Central London, setting a record as the UK's largest multicultural demonstration. At the heart of the event was the House Against Hate free-entry rave organized by R3 Soundsystem in Trafalgar Square. The musical protest featured performances by artists including Ben UFO, Katy B, Shygirl, Hot Chip, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and GIDEÖN, who founded R3 Soundsystem. The gathering served as a direct response to rising far-right political movements, anti-immigration sentiment, transphobic discourse, and xenophobic rhetoric. Attendees represented diverse backgrounds, with participants expressing that communal gatherings against hatred have become increasingly rare. The event occurred six months after a far-right rally led by Tommy Robinson attracted approximately 150,000 supporters in September 2025, resulting in violent confrontations with police. In contrast, the March demonstration tripled those numbers with peaceful opposition. Artist Joy Crookes emphasized the importance of all forms of resistance, from small personal conversations to large public statements. Young attendees Rowan May Early Wray and Oli Taylor highlighted how music transcends language barriers and facilitates collective expression. For several hours, Trafalgar Square transformed into a space of joyful defiance and unity, with participants dancing to house music and celebrating solidarity with marginalized communities.
