London Design Festival 2026 Highlights Seven Offcut-Based Furniture and Product Designs
Taking place from 12 to 20 September 2026, the London Design Festival showcased innovative uses of manufacturing waste by various designers. Among the highlights was Lewis Duckworth's Dagwood Bench, crafted from leftover timber end pieces and nominated for a 2026 Wood Award. Brighton's Spared presented Second Song, a collection of bird-shaped items made from a mineral binder that is free of resin. At the Out of Worky exhibition, organized by Marley Wellings, Jake Robertson, Kieran Slater, and Milo Tonry-Brown, Tom Golland featured a tissue box created from walnut and white oak offcuts. Oscar Warman's chair utilized damaged furniture components, while Audra Grays and Maxim Lester displayed Fused sconce lights made from fused glass offcuts. Carsten in der Elst showed a Graywacke OffCut Chair, and Duy Huynh's coat rack appeared in With Limitations. The festival underscored the importance of sustainable design practices.
