Lonac's Memory Lane Mural at Rexenera Fest Elevates Everyday Objects

During the twelfth Rexenera Fest in Carballo, Spain, artist Lonac presented 'Memory Lane,' a sizable mural located on a residential building at Avenida das Flores, 100, in the Barrio das Flores. This new piece alters the focus of his previous works by minimizing human figures, allowing everyday items—a ceramic jug, seed heads, a red cart, an old car, and scattered clothing—to dominate the scene. These objects, gathered from flea markets and daily life, serve as monuments imbued with personal and communal memories. Inspired by classic isometric video games, the mural's tilted perspective evokes a sense of digital nostalgia. Lonac emphasizes that this approach invites viewers to reflect on how objects can endure beyond their owners, encouraging personal memory projection. The mural contributes to Carballo's expanding open-air art collection, with five artists scheduled to paint five walls throughout the town in 2026.
