Liste Art Fair Basel expands beyond young artist focus in 31st edition

festival-fair · 2026-06-17

Founded in 1996 as a response to Art Basel, Liste Art Fair Basel is expanding its criteria for 'emerging artist' beyond the previous under-40 age limit. Director Nikola Dietrich highlights that several women artists often invest more time in their work later in their careers, while others face challenges from local art infrastructures, achieving recognition later. This year's fair marks the largest edition ever, featuring 106 galleries, including 41 newcomers. With 74 solo presentations, attendees can connect more intimately with individual artists. The fair remains a hub for discovery, showcasing fresh talent and galleries. Increased applications from London and Seoul reflect a strong interest, and the fair will take place from 15-21 June at Messe Basel.
