Juneteenth Houston Seeks Designs for Flag, Logo, and Public Art Installation

Juneteenth Houston has launched three open calls for Texas-based artists and designers. The organization seeks a commemorative logo for the 161st anniversary, a temporary public art installation for the Celebrate Freedom Festival at Emancipation Park in Houston's Third Ward on June 6, and an official Juneteenth Houston flag. The logo design must artistically represent the number 161 and is due March 23, with a $500 stipend. The public art installation should reflect the 2026 theme 'Homecoming: Our Heritage, Our Home' and is also due March 23. The flag design, intended to symbolize the legacy of emancipation in Texas, is due April 3, with a $2,500 stipend and public voting from April 12-18. The initiative aims to honor the Texas origins of Juneteenth celebrations.
