IPERIBLEO's First Residency in Palazzolo Acreide Features Matteo Nasini and Sorelle di Damiano

IPERIBLEO launched its inaugural artist residency in Palazzolo Acreide, Sicily, from March 19 to 28, 2026, curated by Spaziomensa from Rome. The residency hosted two projects: Matteo Nasini worked in the Fontanasecca rock-cut tanneries, while the duo Sorelle di Damiano (Sofia Pazzocco and Simona Tedeschini) presented their ongoing work Variazione numero 2 in the city auditorium. Nasini recorded the site's sonic landscape, particularly rhythmic water drips amplified by unusually wet conditions, to create an electronic audio track titled Goccioleria Acreide, which will be completed for a July festival. Sorelle di Damiano incorporated a local dialect rosary into their performance, grounding it in the specific territory. The residency is part of a multi-phase project aiming to establish an artistic production hub in the Iblei Mountains, with a festival scheduled from July 31 to August 2, 2026, and a second residency featuring artist and composer Krista Papista. The initiative seeks to engage local sites like caves, tanneries, and Baroque alleys as active workspaces rather than picturesque backdrops.
