Illuminate Adelaide 2026: Robot Swans, Giant Keyboards, and Dancing Mirrorball People

Illuminate Adelaide, the annual winter festival of light and art, returns with a spectacular lineup of installations and performances. The event features CYGNUS by Loomaland, life-sized robotic swans floating on Rymill Park Lake. The Mulka Project, a collective of multimedia artists from Yirrkala in north-east Arnhem Land, presents Rarrirarri, an immersive experience. Australian artist Beamhacker offers Embrace, an interactive audiovisual experience celebrating human connection. Amigo & Amigo contributes Piano Walk and The Dream Herd. ENESS presents Whispering Mountains, where children interact with the installation. Fresh Creative Entertainment's Mirror Me involves roving performers dancing with the crowd. Volter International's Neon Dog Park, Robin Fox's Canopy at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, and Chris Petridis's Fracture also at the Botanic Gardens are featured. Dutch artists Close-Act Theatre perform Birdmen, a roving performance. Miguel Chevalier projects Pixel Waves onto the floor and crowds at Adelaide's Bonython Hall. The festival showcases a diverse range of interactive and immersive artworks, transforming the city into a luminous playground.
