Houston Art Car Parade Celebrates 39th Year with Weekend Festival and $16,000 in Prizes

The 39th annual Houston Art Car Parade, organized by the Orange Show Center for Visionary Art (OSCVA), will take place from April 9 to April 12, 2026. The main parade on Saturday, April 11, begins at 2 p.m. on Allen Parkway at the Interstate 45 overpass, circling City Hall and crossing through downtown with over 250 expected vehicles. Grand Marshals are Grammy-winning multidisciplinary artist Kam Franklin and Houston Dynamo soccer champion Brian Ching, while visual artist Phillip Pyle II is the 2026 Featured Artist. The weekend includes a Thursday 'Main Street Drag' with 100 Art Cars visiting hospitals and schools, a Friday 'Legendary Art Car Ball' at Hermann Square with a DJ set by artists-in-residence Poncili Creación, and a Sunday awards ceremony at Orange Show World HQ on Gulf Terminal Drive offering $16,000 in prizes. A VIP fundraiser at Hermann Square features tickets from $250 to $6,000. The event traces its origins to 1984 with artist Jackie Harris's 'Fruitmobile' and the first official parade in 1988, now attracting over 300,000 spectators annually.
