Houghton Festival 2026: Five Standout Art Installations

During the Houghton Festival 2026, which took place from August 6 to 9 at Houghton Hall in Norfolk, England, Dezeen showcased five remarkable installations from the arts program. One highlight was Water Tower, a pavilion crafted from timber and thatch by Cella Collective and Mitre & Mondays, drawing inspiration from the estate's 1772 water tower and utilizing sustainably sourced reed from Scottish RSPB reedbeds. This structure is intended for annual dismantling and reassembly. Light artist Chris Levine presented Full Beam, an enhanced laser display featuring a chrome-plated vintage Volkswagen campervan adrift on the estate's lake. Nicole Gordon and Ke Peng designed a mirrored circle of rotating panels that dispersed light through the trees. Additionally, DJ and artist Call Super created an open-air living room from felled trees, reflecting on the loss of communal spaces. The festival also revisited installations like Benni Allan's glowing canopy from 2025, blending music, art, architecture, and design throughout the historic grounds.
