Handke's New Play Premieres in Salzburg with Harzer and Galic

Peter Handke's 24th stage work, "Schnee von gestern, Schnee von morgen," premiered at the Salzburg Festival, featuring actors Marina Galic and Jens Harzer. The production, originally designed by Anja Rabes with an abstract, nested space to capture the text's polyperspective, was dismantled three days before the premiere. During the final applause, Handke, visibly injured from a fall in early summer, returned to the stage and raised his cane, interpreted by some as threatening and by others as a waving farewell. The play marks a collaboration between Handke and the actor couple, who have known him since they first met. The premiere took place in Salzburg, Austria.
