Guido Filosto's Material Sculptures Debut at Palermo Sound Festival

Palermo Sound, a festival taking place in the historic center of Palermo, commenced yesterday and will continue until September 6, 2026. Spanning four days, the event showcases a variety of performances and activities. At the Giardino dei Giusti, artist Guido Filosto presents new creations that emphasize materiality, utilizing tree trunks sourced from the Policlinico di Palermo region. Art historian Barbara Martusciello refers to these works as miraculous finds that create a distinctive triad. The installation delves into the lesser-known facets of materials, with radiant mirrors enhancing the ambiance at a site built upon the remnants of the 18th-century Palazzo Greco. The festival aims to celebrate beauty through sound and a range of traditions, providing an alternative perspective to war-centric narratives.
