Guggenheim Bilbao launches online course on architecture in art

The Museo Guggenheim Bilbao has announced a new online course titled "Arte y arquitectura: arquitectura que no puedes pisar" (Art and Architecture: Architecture You Cannot Step On), starting July 1, 2026. The three-month program explores how artists have depicted buildings, temples, and cities in paintings, drawings, and reliefs—spaces that never existed yet form part of human history. Led by architect and art communicator Miquel del Pozo, the course covers four modules: perspective and painted space, utopian architecture, world views through paintings, and dwelling in art. Topics include Bramante, Bellini, Borromini, Las Meninas, Leonardo, Perugino, Raphael, the basilica of St. Peter, El Greco's Toledo, Notre-Dame de Paris, Van Gogh's Yellow House, Hockney's American pool, and works by Bourgeois, Jürgenssen, Slinger, and Hatoum. The course is aimed at adults interested in contemporary art. Fees are €80 for the general public and €64 for Friends of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao. Automatic certification is provided upon completion. Enrollment is available through the museum's website.
