Google Vids Launches Gemini Omni and Personal Avatars for AI Video Creation

digital · 2026-07-16

Google Vids has rolled out two significant enhancements: Gemini Omni, a multimodal AI capable of crafting and modifying videos based on text prompts and image inputs, and personal avatars that create a digital representation using a selfie and voice recording. Users can effortlessly generate high-quality videos, change backgrounds, adjust lighting, or apply effects using natural language commands. Each AI-generated video comes with an invisible SynthID digital watermark for added transparency. These features are accessible to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, as well as Google Workspace business clients, though personal avatars are limited to users aged 18 and older in select regions. These updates build on the introduction of Veo 3.1 in February, which allowed video creation within Vids.
