Genki has released the ShadowCast 3 and Covert Dock 3, products initially promoted for gaming but with broader applications. Following a successful Kickstarter campaign that concluded last September, attracting over 30,000 supporters and raising nearly $2 million, both items are now directly purchasable from the company. The ShadowCast 3 is the newest iteration in this product line, designed to connect gaming consoles to various screens like laptops, smartphones, and tablets with minimal delay. It supports video capture at resolutions up to 4K at 60 frames per second for streaming or recording purposes. When paired with an iPad, users need to install free companion applications such as Genki's Studio app or Camo Studio. The Covert Dock 3 complements this setup by providing a 65W power supply and supporting high-resolution video output in a compact form factor. Beyond gaming, these tools offer practical benefits for photographers and videographers. They can transform mirrorless cameras into high-quality webcams for video calls, bypassing often unreliable manufacturer software. This functionality extends to DSLRs, camcorders, and action cameras with HDMI outputs, though some may require adapters.
