Genaro Rivas Presents State of Impact at Berlin Fashion Week

festival-fair · 2026-07-11

Peruvian designer Genaro Rivas presented his Spring/Summer 2027 menswear collection State of Impact during Berlin Fashion Week on July 4. The collection reframes collapse as a creative methodology, using reconstruction rather than perfection. It features deconstructed tailoring, exposed hardware, and sculptural silhouettes made from organic denim, reclaimed leather, and experimental textiles, with a closing look assembled from salvaged chandeliers. Garments show traces of intervention, borrowing from Berlin Expressionist Walter Gramatté's fractured visual language to explore violence, memory, and repair. Rivas collaborated with Peruvian artist Cintia Gutierrez on one of his favorite pieces. He describes Berlin Fashion Week as having "emerging energy" and values how different fashion capitals approach sustainability. The collection aims to provoke extreme reactions, with Rivas stating, "Whether you like it or hate it, that's a reaction that I want people to have." He emphasizes craftsmanship as the future of fashion. The show was held at Kudamm Space, with production support from Velturanexus.
