Gary the Snail 3D-printed speaker from discarded alarm clock
South Korean 3D pen artist Momandeum has transformed a discarded alarm clock into a functional sculpture of Gary, SpongeBob SquarePants' pet snail. The project repurposes the clock's electronics, housing a Bluetooth speaker in Gary's shell and integrating a wireless charging pad in its turntable-style base. Momandeum disassembled the clock, measured its components, and designed custom 3D-printed parts for the body, shell, eyes, and support structure. After printing, the pieces were sanded, primed, and hand-painted to match the cartoon's flat colors and outlines. Magnets connect the elements for easy access to electronics while maintaining a seamless appearance. The final object functions as a character sculpture, speaker, and charger. The first sounds played were Gary's meows.
