Gallery Climate Coalition's '10% Of' Initiative Returns to Frieze London with 13 Galleries

festival-fair · 2026-10-08

At Frieze London, the Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC) has revived its '10% Of' fundraising campaign, with 13 galleries, such as Hauser & Wirth and Victoria Miro, pledging to donate 10% of sales from select artworks. The first edition of this initiative generated £33,000. Furthermore, pieces by artists Igshaan Adams and Patricia Leite will be auctioned at Christie's, with the funds split between GCC and ClientEarth. GCC director Heath Lowndes observed a drop in participation, as the number of galleries has decreased by half, including Gagosian and Sprüth Magers. Currently, only 16 out of more than 400 member galleries are actively involved. GCC's 2022 Stocktake Report indicated that 79% of initial members cut their carbon footprints by over 25%. A sustainability-driven art sector has been developing since 2020, highlighted by the launch of Murmur in 2024.
