Galerie Nordenhake marks 50 years at Art Basel with Olle Baertling work
Claes Nordenhake's gallery, a regular at Art Basel since 1978, celebrates its 50th anniversary. The gallery now operates spaces in Berlin, Stockholm, and Mexico City. To commemorate the milestone, it presents Davi (1954) by Olle Baertling, the first artist it ever exhibited. Nordenhake reflects on Art Basel's enduring role as a key meeting point for collectors. He advises new gallerists to define a niche and stick to it for credibility. A panel discussion on business survival in the art world will feature Nordenhake, Márcia Fortes of Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel, and Karen Jenkins-Johnson of Jenkins Johnson Gallery, moderated by Ben Luke of The Art Newspaper. The event takes place tomorrow at 11:30am in the Event Halle Basel, Messeplatz.
