Fuji Shibazakura Festival Transforms Japanese Landscape with 500,000 Moss Phlox Blooms

The Fuji Shibazakura Festival at Fuji Motosuko Resort creates a vibrant floral spectacle beneath Mount Fuji. Running from mid-April through late May until May 24, 2026, the event features approximately 500,000 shibazakura, also known as moss phlox, blooming across 15,000 square meters. Unlike cherry blossoms that grow on trees, these ground-covering plants form dense carpets in pink, purple, and white hues. Art installations like the reflective Sparkling Flower Drop Mirror and the Door to Happiness viewing point complement the natural display. A Peter Rabbit English Garden offers British-style landscaping with Mount Fuji views. Festival stalls serve regional specialties including Fujinomiya yakisoba, Yoshida udon, and Sakura Churros shaped like the Japanese character for cherry blossom. Located less than two hours from Tokyo, the festival attracts visitors during Japan's spring season.
