Frieze New York 2026 Opens with 68 Galleries and Focus on Emerging Voices

So, on May 17, 2026, Frieze New York kicked off at The Shed, organized by Christine Messineo. This year’s event highlighted 68 galleries from 25 countries, showcasing well-known names like Perrotin, Gagosian, White Cube, and Thaddaeus Ropac, as well as some newer galleries. Notable artists featured include Genesis Belanger at Perrotin, Maya Lin at Pace Gallery, and Tony Matelli at François Ghebaly, among others. W-Galería won the 2026 Focus Stand Prize for presenting Seba Calfuqueo, with Soft Opening and Gordon Robichaux receiving honorable mentions. The inaugural Sherman Family Foundation Acquisition Fund helped the Brooklyn Museum and Baltimore Museum of Art make new acquisitions. The event also involved collaborations with several art institutions. Celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio and Julia Fox were spotted at the event.
