Frieze London Diary: Miles Aldridge's Pop-Up Studio, Studio Lenca's Volcanic Hammocks, and a Ferocious Lego Deity

festival-fair · 2026-10-06

The Mount Street Neighbourhood Arts Festival at Frieze London features a pop-up studio by UK artist Miles Aldridge, part of his 15 Minutes of Fame series, where attendees can pose with props against an orange backdrop in Mayfair. Aldridge, who has previously photographed figures like Elton John and Maurizio Cattelan, is the son of Alan Aldridge, the designer behind the 1975 Captain Fantastic cover. While all London slots are booked, Aldridge is set to appear in Paris next week during Art Basel Paris. Additionally, Studio Lenca showcases Ojalá, an installation of Salvadoran hammocks alongside volcanic rock replicas, while Leah Wood presents urban nature artworks. At the 1-54 Contemporary African Art fair, Ekow Nimako features Maame Wata and a 1920 wooden Queen Victoria drum.
