Four Heated Rivalry Parody Musicals Hit Edinburgh Fringe

The horny hockey TV series Heated Rivalry has inspired four comedy musicals at the 2026 Edinburgh Fringe. Dylan MarcAurele's Heated Rivalry: The Unauthorized Musical Parody, after a sold-out off-Broadway run, heads to Edinburgh alongside Puck Bunnies: A Heated Rivalry Drag Musical Parody by Kyra Brown and Christan Leonard, which centers drag kings and the female gaze. Two other shows—Heated Rivalry: The Musical Parody! from Quick & Funny Musicals and Trevor Ashley and Phil Scott's Deep-Heat Rivalry—are also on the bill. The parodies emerged rapidly: both MarcAurele and Brown wrote scripts in about three weeks. Parody law allows the adaptations without copyright issues. The shows are funded differently: Puck Bunnies is self-financed by the creators and cast, while MarcAurele's production is commercially backed. All four embrace queer joy, with MarcAurele calling musical parody 'inherently queer.' The creators see no rivalry among the shows, instead planning cross-promotion. Heated Rivalry: The Unauthorized Musical Parody and Deep-Heat Rivalry will also travel to London after the fringe.
