Formlabs Launches $699 Form Studio 1, Its First Consumer 3D Printer
Formlabs has introduced the Form Studio 1, a consumer-friendly SLA 3D printer priced at $699, a significant drop from its previous entry-level model, which was $2,300. This printer utilizes UV-hardened stereolithography resins and is compatible with both Formlabs and third-party materials, with resin bottles starting at $29. According to Chief Product Officer David Lakatos, it has a compact design similar to a minifridge. A wash and cure unit is available for $199. The Studio 1 features a front-facing touchscreen, operates quietly without odors, and is UL GreenGuard-certified, equipped with a VOC Extractor. In tests, a toolbox cover was printed in just 17 minutes, and Formlabs reports a 2 percent failure rate with its resins. The Form Mobile app allows users to manage prints remotely.
